Chapter 15

Update:  2024.01.24

Rom. 15:1 (LIT/UBS4) But (de) we (hēmeis), the (hoi) inherently powered ones (dunatoi), we owe (opheilomen) to carry (bastazein) the (ta) disabilities (asthenēmata) of the ones (tōn) inherently unpowered (adunatōn), and (kai) not (mē) to be agreeable (areskein) to ourselves (heautois)!

Rom. 15:2 (LIT/UBS4) <Let> each one (hekastos) of us (hēmōn) be agreeable (aresketō) to the (tō) neighborly one (plēsion), into (eis) [doing, AE] the (to) good (agathon) [work, v14:20, RE] toward (pros) [the] building of [a] domed-roof house3619 (oikodomēn).

Rom. 15:3 (LIT/UBS4) Because (gar) the (ho) Christ (Christos) also (kai) was absolutely not agreeable (ouch ēresen) to himself (heautō)!

BUT (alla), down according to as (kathōs) it has been written (gegraptai), “The (hoi) reproaches (oneidismoi) of the ones (tōn) reproaching (oneidizontōn) you (se) fell (epepesan) upon (ep’) me (eme)!”

(For the Word witnessing before see Psalms 2, 16, 22, 30, 69, 78; Prov. 8; Isa. 49:1-6; Isa. 50, 61; Rom. 15:3; 1 Pet. 1:10-11, 20)

Rom. 15:4 (LIT/UBS4) Because (gar) as many things as (hosa) were written before (prographe), [each one, AE] was written in (egraphē) into (eis) the (tēn) [writings, RE] for our (hēmeteran) teaching (didaskalian);

in order that (hina) through (dia) the (tēs) endurance (hupomonēs), and (kai) through (dia) the (tēs) consolation (paraklēseōs) of the (tōn) writings (graphōn), we may hold (echōmen) the (tēn) hope (elpida).

Rom. 15:5 (LIT/UBS4) But (de) the (ho) God (theos) of the (tēs) endurance (hupomonēs), and (kai) of the (tēs) consolation (paraklēseōs), may he give (dōē) to you (humin) to think (phronein) the (to) same (auto) [thought, AE] among (en) one another (allēlois), down according to (kata) Christ (Christon) Jesus (Iēsoun);

Rom. 15:6 (LIT/UBS4) in order that (hina) [being] like-passioned (homothumadon), in (en) one (heni) mouth (stomati) you may glorify (doxazēte) the (ton) God (theon) and (kai) Father (patera) of the (tou) lord (kuriou) of us (hēmōn), Jesus (Iēsou) Christ (Christou);

(For who is Jesus Christ’s God, see Mat. 27:46; Mark 15:34; John 20:17; Rom. 15:6; Heb. 1:9; 1 Pet. 1:3; Rev. 3:2, 12)

Rom. 15:7 (LIT/UBS4) through whose (dio) [sake, AE] <cause yourselves to take> one another (allēlous) to yourselves (proslambanesthe), down according to as (kathōs) the (ho) Christ (Christos) also (kai) <caused himself to take> you (humas) to himself (proselabeto) into (eis) [the] glory (doxan) of the (tou) God (theou)!

(For which thoughts we are to disciple ourselves to think, see Rom. 8:5-8, 12:2-3, 15-19, 14:4-9, 15:4-7; 1 Cor. 13:11, 14:20; 2 Cor. 13:11; Gal. 5:7-10; Phil. 1:3-7, 2:1-11, 3:8-19; Col. 3:1-15)

Rom. 15:8 (LIT/UBS4) Because (gar) I say (legō), Christ (christen) was to have become (gegenēsthai) [a] minister (diakonon) of circumcision (peritomēs) over (huper) [the] Truth (alētheias) of God (theou), to establish (bebaiōsai) the (tas) promises (epangelias) of the (tōn) fathers (paterōn);

Rom. 15:9 (LIT/UBS4) but (de) [he was to have become [a] minister, v8, RE] of the (ta) ethnic groups (ethnē) to glorify (doxasai) the (ton) God (theon) over (huper) [the] mercy (eleous) [of him, AE], down according to as (kathōs) it has been written (gegraptai), “Through (dia) this (touto) I shall cause myself to confess out (exomologēsomai) for you (soi) among (en) ethnic groups (ethnesin);

and (kai) I shall sing [a] psalm (psalō) to the (tō) name (onomati) of you (sou).”

(See Psalm 18:49)

(For God boasting of his mercy see Hos. 6:6; Exod. 15:13, *25:21-22; Psalm 103:11, 17; Mat. 5:7, 9:13, 12:7, 23:23; Luke 1:50-54, 72, 78; Rom. 9:15, 15:9; Eph. 2:4; Tit. 3:5; James 2:13, 3:17; 1 Pet. 1:3)

Rom. 15:10 (LIT/UBS4) And (kai) again (palin) he says (legei), “Ethnic groups (ethnē), be well-pleased (euphranthēte) together with (meta) the (tou) people (laou) of him (autou).”

Rom. 15:11 (LIT/UBS4) And (kai) again (palin), “All (panta) the (ta) ethnic groups (ethnē), praise (aineite) the (ton) Lord (kurion);

and (kai) all (pantes) the (hoi) peoples (laoi), praise (epainesatōsan) him (auton)!”

(See Deut. 32:43a)

Rom. 15:12 (LIT/UBS4) And (kai) again (palin), Isaiah (Hsaias) says (legei), “There shall be (estai) the (hē) root (rhiza) of the (tou) Jesse (Iessai).

And (kai) [there shall be, RE] the one (ho) causing himself to stand up (anistamenos) to be [a] first one (archein) of ethnic groups (ethnōn).

Ethnic groups (ethnē) shall hope (elpiousin) over (ep’) him (autō).”

(See Isa. 11:10)

Rom. 15:13 (LIT/UBS4) But (de) the (ho) God (theos) of the (tēs) hope (elpidos), may he fill (plērōsai) you (humas) of all (pasēs) joy (charas) and (kai) peace (eirēnēs);

in (en) to the (tō) [joy and peace, RE] to believe (pisteuein);

into (eis) the (to) [belief, RE] of you (humas) to abound (perisseuein) in (en) to the (tē) hope (elpidi), [hope, RE] in (en) inherent power (dunamei) of holy (hagiou) Spirit (pneumatos).

Rom. 15:14 (LIT/UBS4) But (de) I have been persuaded (pepeismai), brothers (adelphoi) of me (mou), I (egō) myself (autos) also (kai) about (peri) you (humōn), that (hoti) you (autoi) also (kai) are (este) ones full (mestoi) of goodness (agathōsunēs), having been filled (peplērōmenoi) of all (pasēs) of the (tēs) knowledge (gnōseōs), causing yourselves to be inherently powered (dunamenoi) to make one another mindful (nouthetein allēlous) also (kai).

Rom. 15:15 (LIT/UBS4) But (de) audaciously (tolmēroteron) I wrote (egrapsa) to you (humin);

since (apo) [in, AE] part (merous) <I am> as (hōs) one calling you up to remembrance (epanamimnēskōn humas) through (dia) the (tēn) grace (charin), the (tēn) [grace, RE] having been given (dotheisan) to me (moi) under (hupo) [authority, AE] of the (tou) God (theou);

Rom. 15:16 (LIT/UBS4) into (eis) the (to) [grace, v15, RE] for me (me) to be (einai) [a] liturgist (leitourgon) of Christ (Christou) Jesus (Iēsou) into (eis) the (ta) ethnic groups (ethnē), doing sacred work (hierourgounta) of the (to) Evangelism (euangelion) of the (tou) God (theou);

in order that (hina) the (hē) presentation (prosphora) of the (tōn) ethnic groups (ethnōn) may cause itself to become (genētai) well received toward (euprosdektos) [God, AE], it having been made holy (hēgiasmenē) in (en) holy (hagiō) Spirit (pneumati).

Rom. 15:17 (LIT/UBS4) Therefore (oun), in (en) Christ (Christō) Jesus (Iēsou) I have (echō) the (tēn) boasting (kauchēsin) of the (ta) [liturgy, v16, RE] to (pros) the (ton) God (theon).

Rom. 15:18 (LIT/UBS4) Because (gar) I shall absolutely not be audacious enough (ou tolmēsō) to speak (lalein) anything (ti) of things which (hōn) Christ (christo) absolutely did not cause himself to work down (ou kateirgasato) through (dia) me (emou) into (eis) [the] attentive hearing (hupakoēn) of [the] ethnic groups (ethnōn), [through me, RE] in (en) Word (logō) and (kai) work (ergō);

Rom. 15:19 (LIT/UBS4) in (en) inherent power (dunamei) of signs (sēmeiōn) and (kai) of wonders (teratōn);

in (en) inherent power (dunamei) of holy (hagiou) Spirit (pneumatos) of God (theou)!

And so (hōste) I (mē), from (apo) Jerusalem (Hierousalēm) and (kai) circularly (kuklō) until (mechri) the (tou) Illyricum (Illurikou), [I caused myself to evangelize, v16, RE], to have fulfilled (peplērōkenai) the (to) Evangelism (euangelion) of the (tou) Christ (Christou).

Rom. 15:20 (LIT/UBS4) But (de) thusly (houtōs) I aspire (philotimoumenon) to cause myself to evangelize (euangelizesthai);

absolutely not (ouch) where (hopou) Christ (Christos) was named (ōnomasthē), in order that (hina) I may not build [a] domed-roof house3618 (mē oikodomō) upon (ep’) [a] foundation (themelion) of another (allotrion)!

Rom. 15:21 (LIT/UBS4) BUT (alla), down according to as (kathōs) it has been written (gegraptai), “To ones whom (hois) it was absolutely not reported up (ouk anēngelē) about (peri) him (autou), they shall cause themselves to gaze at (opsontai) [him, RE]!

And (kai) ones who (hoi) have absolutely not heard (ouk akēkoasin), they shall put [[the] writing, RE] together (sunēsousin)!”

(See Isa. 52:15)

Rom. 15:22 (LIT/UBS4) Through which (dio), of the (ta) many things (polla) of the (tou) [Evangelism, v19, RE], I was being interrupted (enekoptomēn) also (kai) to come (elthein) to (pros) you (humas).

Rom. 15:23 (LIT/UBS4) But (de) now at this moment (nuni) I no longer yet (mēketi) have (echō) [a] place (topon) in (en) the (tois) climates (klimasi) to these (toutois).

But (de) I am having (echōn) [a] longing (epipothian), the (tou) [longing, RE] from (apo) many (pollōn) years (etōn), to come (elthein) to (pros) you (humas);

Rom. 15:24 (LIT/UBS4) perhaps (an) as (hōs) I may cause myself to go (poreuōmai) into (eis) the (tēn) Spain (Spanian).

Because (gar) I hope (elpizō), causing myself to go through (diaporeuomenos), to make myself [a] spectator (theasasthai) of you (humas), and (kai) to be sent forward (propemphthēnai) [from, AE] there (ekei), if perhaps (ean) I may be filled in (emplēsthō) of you (humōn) first (prōton) from (apo) [being] apart (merous).

Rom. 15:25 (LIT/UBS4) But (de) now at this moment (nuni) I cause myself to go (poreuomai) into (eis) Jerusalem (Hierousalēm), ministering (diakonōn) to the (tois) holy ones (hagiois).

Rom. 15:26 (LIT/UBS4) Because (gar) Macedonia (Makedonia) and (kai) Achaia (Achaia) well-approved (eudokēsan) to cause themselves to make (poiēsasthai) some (tina) [gracious things, AE] of fellowship (koinōnian) into (eis) the (tous) poor ones (ptōchous) of the (tōn) holy ones (hagiōn), of the ones (tōn) in (en) Jerusalem (Hierousalēm).

(For who was to receive the collections, the gracious abundant sharings, like the collections from the believers in the area of Corinth, see what Christ Jesus and the apostles taught and preached, Mat. 19:20-21, 26:6-13; Mark 10:20-21, 14:3-9; Luke 4:18-19, *14:12-14, 21-22, 18:22, 19:8; John 12:3-8, 13:28-29; Acts 2:44-47; Rom. 15:26; 1 Cor. 13:3, 16:1-2; 2 Cor. 6:10, 8:9, 9:9; Gal. 2:10. )

Rom. 15:27 (LIT/UBS4) Because (gar) they are well-approved (eudokēsan), and (kai) they are (eisin) debtors (opheiletai) of them (autōn).

Because (gar) if (ei) the (ta) ethnic groups (ethnē) shared in (ekoinōnēsan) the (tois) Spirit-based things (pneumatikois) of them (autōn), the (ta) ethnic groups (ethnē) owe (opheilousin) to give liturgical service (leitourgēsai) to them (autois) in (en) the (tois) flesh-based things (sarkikois) also (kai).

Rom. 15:28 (LIT/UBS4) Therefore (oun), having completed (epitelesas) this (touto), and (kai) having sealed myself (sphragisamenos) to them (autois) for the (ton) produce (karpon) of this (touton), I shall cause myself to go (apeleusomai) into (eis) Spain (Spanian) through (di’) you (humōn).

Rom. 15:29 (LIT/UBS4) But (de) I have seen (oida) that (hoti) causing myself to go (erchomenos) to (pros) you (humas), I shall cause myself to come (eleusomai) in (en) fullness (plērōmati) of [a] eulogy (eulogias) of Christ (Christou).

Rom. 15:30 (LIT/UBS4) But (de) I accost (parakalō) you (humas), brothers (adelphoi), through (dia) [the sake, AE] of the (tou) lord (kuriou) of us (hēmōn), Jesus (Iēsou) Christ (Christou), and (kai) through (dia) [the sake, AE] of the (tēs) love (agapēs) of the (tou) Spirit (pneumatos), to cause yourselves to agonize together with (sunagōnisasthai) me (moi) in (en) the (tais) prayers of well-thankfulness to4335 (proseuchais) [God, AE], to (pros) the (ton) God (theon) over (huper) [the sake, AE] of me (emou);

Rom. 15:31 (LIT/UBS4) in order that (hina) I may be rescued (rhusthō) from (apo) the ones (tōn) being dissuaded (apeithountōn) in (en) the (tē) Judaea (Ioudaia).

And (kai) the (hē) ministry (diakonia) of me (mou), the one (hē) into (eis) Jerusalem (Hierousalēm), may cause itself to become (genētai) [a] well received one (euprosdektos) to the (tois) holy ones (hagiois);

Rom. 15:32 (LIT/UBS4) in order that (hina) having come (elthōn) to (pros) you (humas) in (en) joy (chara) through (dia) [the] desire (thelēmatos) of God (theou), I may cause myself to rest up together with (sunanapausōmai) you (humin).

Rom. 15:33 (LIT/UBS4) But (de) the (ho) God (theos) of the (tēs) peace (eirēnēs) [is] together with (meta) all (pantōn) of you (humōn), truly (amēn)!
