Chapter 12

12:1 Therefore (oun) I accost (parakalō) you (humas), brothers (adelphoi), through (dia) [the sake] of the (tōn) compassions (oiktirmōn) of the (tou) God (theou), to stand alongside3936 (parastēsai) the (ta) bodies (sōmata) of you (humōn) [as] a living (zōsan) sacrifice (thusian), holy (hagian), well agreeable (euareston) to the (to) God (theou), [which is] the (tēn) logical (logikēn) service (latreian) of you (humōn).

(For a believer's responsibility to stand himself alongside of the Father through doing good works, in order to receive anything from Him, see Mat. 6:1-4, 18:19, 19:26, 21:42; Mark 10:27, 12:11; John 5:44, 6:45-46, 8:38-42, 9:33, 17:5-8; Rom. 2:11-13, 6:13, 12:1; 1 Cor. 7:24, 8:8a; 2 Cor. 9:8; Gal. 3:11; Eph. 6:8; 1 Tim. 2:10; 2 Tim. 3:17; Tit. 2:14, 3:8,14; Heb. 10:24; James 1:5-7, 27; 1 Pet. 2:20-21; 2 Pet. 3:8; 2 John 1:3; Rev. 2:28)

12:2 And (kai) do not be schematized together with (mē suschēmatizesthe) the (tō) age (aiōni), this one (toutō)!

BUT (alla), be metamorphosized (metamorphousthe) to the (tē) freshening up (anakainōsei) of the (tou) mind (noos), into (eis) the (to) [mind of] you (humas) to prove (dokimazein) what (ti) [is] the (to) good (agathon), and (kai) well agreeable (euareston), and (kai) complete (teleion) desire (thelēma) of the (tou) God (theou)!

(For those whose “eye” “sees the light”, i.e., the knowledge and spiritual understanding of the Word of the God, and who become so wholly full of “light” that subsequently their physical body becomes illuminated as starlight, see Mat. 17:1-3, 24:27, 28:1-3; Mark 9:1-3; *Luke 11:34-36, 17:22-24; Rom. 12:2; 2 Cor. 3:18. Many references can be found also through searching on light (phos), glory (doxa), illuminated (phōtizō), an illuminated one (phōteinos), lamp (luchnos), etc.)

12:3 Because (gar) I say (legō) through (dia) the (tēs) grace (charitos), the (tēs) [grace] having been given (dotheisēs) to me (moi), the (tō) [grace] being (onti) [given] to everyone (panti) among (en) you (humin), not (mē) to be over-thoughted5252 (huperphronein) beside (par’) that which (ho) is required (dei) to think (phronein).

BUT (alla), to think (phronein) into (eis) the (to) [grace] to be whole-thoughted (sōphronein), as (hōs) the (ho) God (theos) divided (emerisen) a measure (metron) of belief (pisteōs) to each one (hekastō)!

12:4 Because (gar) so be it down (kathaper) in (en) one (heni) body (sōmati) we hold (echomen) many (polla) members (melē).

But (de) the (ta) members (melē) absolutely do not (ou) all (panta) have (echei) the (tēn) same (autēn) practice (praxin)!

12:5 Thusly (houtōs) the (hoi) many (polloi) [members] are (esmen) one (hen) body (sōma) in (en) Christ (Christō).

But (de) the (to) members (melē) [are] down (kath’) one (heis) of another (allēlōn)!

(For what is God’s prophesied true “tent”, His new holy place under His new covenant, the prophesied promise of the Father to place himself into believers to live in them as His new permanent domicile, a true “tent” not built with mortal’s hands but with His own hand, see Ex. 15:17; 2 Sam. 7:5-16; Isa. 8:14; Ezek. 11:16; Joel 2:28-29; Amos 9:11-12; Mat. 3:11, 16:18, 26:61, 27:39-40; Mark 14:58, 15:29; Luke 3:21-22, 24:49; *John 2:19-22, 3:1-, 4:20-24, 7:37-39, 14:2, *23; Acts 1:4-5, 2:16-18, 33, 38-39, *7:44-50, *15:16-18, *17:24, *20:28; *Rom. 8:9-11, 12:4-5; 1 Cor. *3:16-17, *6:19-20, 10:16-17, 12:12-28; *2 Cor. 5:1, *6:16-18; Gal. 3:14, 22; Eph. 1:13-14, 22-23, *2:17-22, 3:6, 4:11-16, 5:30-32; Col. 1:18-27, 2:6-10, 3:15; *1 Thes. 5:9-11; *1 Tim. 3:15; *2 Tim. 1:14; Heb. *3:4-6, 8:2, *9:11-15, *24, 10:21, 36; 1 Pet. 2:4-5; 1 John 4:12-16; Rev. 3:12, 7:15, 11:19, *13:6, *21:3, 22)

12:6 But (de) we are ones holding (echontes) gracious gifts (charismata) down according to (kata) the (tēn) grace (charin), of the (tēn) different (diaphora) [gracious gifts] having been given (dotheisan) to us (hēmin).

[whether] the one (ho) is having mercy (eleōn) [for others] in (en) hilarity (hilarotēti),

12:9 [let] the (hē) love (agapē) [for others be] without acting (anupokritos).

Be ones abhorring away from (apostugountes) the (to) evil (ponēron), ones being glued2853 (kollōmenoi) to the (tō) good (agathō).

12:10 Be ones lovingly endeared (philostorgoi) into (eis) one another (allēlous) for the (tē) brotherly love (philadelphia), causing yourselves to lead before (proēgoumenoi) one another (allēlous) for the (tē) thing of highly esteemed value (timē).

12:11 [Be] not (mē) slow ones (oknēroi) to the (tē) haste (spoudē);

[be] ones being hot (zeontes) for the (tō) Spirit (pneumati);

[be] ones slaving (douleuontes) for the (tō) lord (kuriō);

12:12 [be] ones rejoicing (chairontes) for the (tē) hope (elpidi);

[be] ones enduring (hupomenontes) the (tē) mental pressure (thlipsei);

[be] ones pursuing (diōkontes) the (tēn) love of a stranger (philoxenian)!

12:14 Eulogize (eulogeite) the ones (tous) pursuing (diōkontas) you (humas);

eulogize (eulogeite) and (kai) do not cause yourselves to curse (mē katarasthe).

12:15 [You are] to rejoice (chairein) together with (meta) rejoicing ones (chairontōn), weep (klaiein) together with (meta) weeping ones (klaiontōn);

12:16-17 thinking (phronountes) the (to) same thing (auto) into (eis) one another (allēlous), not (mē) thinking (phronountes) the (ta) high things (hupsēla).

BUT (alla), you being caused to be led away (sunapagomenoi) to the (tois) humble things (tapeinois), do not cause yourselves to become (mē ginesthe) thoughtful (phronimoi) alongside (par’) for yourselves (heautois);

giving away (apodidontes) to not one (mēdeni) a malicious thing (kakon) against473 (anti) a malicious thing (kakou), causing yourselves to perceive in advance (pronooumenoi) beautiful things (kala) in sight (enōpion) of all (pantōn) mortals (anthrōpōn)!

12:18 If (ei) the (to) [beautiful thing] out (ex) of you (humōn) [is] inherently powered (dunaton), you are being peaceful (eirēneuontes) with (meta) all (pantōn) mortals (anthrōpōn);

12:20 But (alla), if perhaps (ean) the (ho) hated one (echthros) of you (sou) may pine (peina), give a morsel (psōmize) to him (auton);

if perhaps (ean) he may thirst (dipsa), give a drink (potize) to him (auton);

because (gar) doing (poiōn) this (touto) you shall heap (sōreuseis) coals (anthrakas) of fire (puros) upon (epi) the (tēn) head (kephalēn) of him (autou).
