Chapter 12

Rev. 12:1 (LIT/UBS4) And (kai) [a] great (mega) sign (sēmeion) was gazed at (ōphthē) in (en) the (tō) heaven (ouranō);

 

[a] female (gunē) having thrown around herself (peribeblēmenē) the (ton) sun (hēlion);

 

and (kai) the (hē) bright moon (selēnē) [was] down under (hupokatō) the (tōn) feet (podōn) of her (autēs).  

 

And (kai) upon (epi) the (tēs) head (kephalēs) of her (autēs) [was] [a] crown (stephanos) of twelve (dōdeka) stars (asterōn).

 

Rev. 12:2 (LIT/UBS4) And (kai) she was holding (echousa) in (en) [the] belly (gastri)

 

And (kai) she cries (krazei), suffering birth pains (ōdinousa), and (kai) being tormented (basanizomenē) to bear (tekein).

 

Rev. 12:3 (LIT/UBS4) And (kai) another (allo) sign (sēmeion) was gazed at (ōphthē) in (en) the (tō) heaven (ouranō);  

 

and (kai) behold (idou), [there was, AE] [a] great (megas) red-colored (purros) dragon (drakōn) having (echōn) seven (hepta) heads (kephalas), and (kai) ten (deka) horns (kerata), and (kai) seven (hepta) diadems (diadēmata) upon (epi) the (tas) heads (kephalas) of it (autou)!

 

Rev. 12:4 (LIT/UBS4) And (kai) the (hē) tail (oura) of it (autou) dragged (surei) the (to) third (triton) of the (tōn) stars (asterōn) of the (tou) heaven (ouranou), and (kai) threw (ebalen) them (autous) into (eis) the (tēn) land (gēn).  

 

And (kai) the (ho) dragon (drakōn) was standing (hestēken) in sight (enōpion) of the (tēs) female (gunaikos), of the one (tēs) being about (mellousēs) to bear (tekein);

 

in order that (hina) when perhaps (hotan) she may bear (tekē) it may devour (kataphagē) the (to) one born (teknon) of her (autēs).

 

Rev. 12:5 (LIT/UBS4) And (kai) she bore (eteken) [a] son (huion), [a] male (arsen), who (hos) is about (mellei) to shepherd (poimainein) all (panta) of the (ta) ethnic groups (ethnē) in (en) [an] iron (sidēra) rod (rhabdō) .  

 

And (kai) the (to) one born (teknon) of her (autēs) was snatched (hērpasthē) to (pros) the (ton) God (theon), and (kai) to (pros) the (ton) throne (thronon) of him (autou).

Rev. 12:6 (LIT/UBS4) And (kai) the (hē) female (gunē) fled (ephugen) into (eis) the (tēn) desolate place (erēmon), where (hopou) there (ekei) she has (echei) [a] place (topon) having been made ready (hētoimasmenon) from (apo) the (tou) God (theou);

 

in order that (hina) there (ekei) they may feed (trephōsin) her (autēn) [a] thousand (chilias) two hundreds (diakosias) sixty (hexēkonta) days (hēmeras).

 

Rev. 12:7 (LIT/UBS4) And (kai) there was caused to become (egeneto) [a] war (polemos) in (in) the (tō) heaven (ouranō).  

 

The (ho) Michael (Michaēl), and (kai) the (hoi) messengers (angeloi) of him (autou), of the (tou) [God, AE], [are] to go to war (polemēsai) with (meta) the (tou) dragon (drakonta).  

 

And (kai) the (ho) dragon (drakōn) warred (epolemēsen), and (kai) the (hoi) messengers (angeloi) of it (autou).

 

Rev. 12:8 (LIT/UBS4) And (kai) it was absolutely not strong enough (ouk ischusen)!  

 

But absolutely neither (oude) was there found (heurethē) [the] place (topos) of them (autōn) yet any longer (eti) in (en) the (tō) heaven (ouranō).

 

Rev. 12:9 (LIT/UBS4) And (kai) the (ho) dragon (drakōn), the (ho) great one (megas), was thrown (eblēthē);

 

the (ho) serpent (ophis), the (ho) first one (archaios), the one (ho) being called aloud (kaloumenos) [a] diabolical one (diabolos) and (kai) the (ho) Satan (Satanas), the one (ho) <causing> the (tēn) whole (holēn) inhabited land (oikoumenēn) to wander (planōn).

 

It was thrown (eblēthē) into (eis) the (tēn) land (gēn), and (kai) the (hoi) messengers (angeloi) of it (autou) were thrown (eblēthēsan) with (met’) it (autou).

 

Rev. 12:10 (LIT/UBS4) And (kai) I heard (ēkousa) [a] great (megalēn) voice (phōnēn) in (en) the (tō) heaven (ouranō), saying (legousan), “Now (arti), the (hē) wholeness (sōtēria), and (kai) the (hē) inherent power (dunamis), and (kai) the (hē) Kingdom932 (basileia) of the (tou) God (theou) of us (hēmōn), and (kai) the (hē) authority (exousia) of the (tou) Christ (Christou) of him (autou), [each, AE] has caused itself to come to pass (egeneto);

 

because (hoti) the (ho) public accuser (katēgōr) of the (tōn) brothers (adelphōn) of us (hēmōn), the one (ho) publicly accusing (katēgorōn) them (autous) in sight (enōpion) of the (tou) God (theou) of us (hēmōn), day (hēmeras) and (kai) night (nuktos), was thrown (eblēthē) [into the land, v9, RE].

 

Rev. 12:11 (LIT/UBS4) And (kai) they (autoi) conquered (enikēsan) it (auton) through (dia) the (to) blood (haima) of the (tou) lamb (arniou), and (kai) through (dia) the (ton) Word (logon) of the (tēs) witness (marturias) of them (autōn).

 

And (kai) they absolutely did not love (ouk ēgapēsan) the (tēn) soul (psuchēn) of them (autōn) unto (achri) death (thanatou)!

 

Rev. 12:12 (LIT/UBS4) Through (dia) [the sake, AE] of this (touto), the (hoi) heavens (ouranoi) and (kai) the ones (hoi) tenting (skēnountes) in (en) them (autois), be well-pleased (euphrainesthai).  

 

Woe (ouai) to the (tēn) land (gēn) and (kai) to the (tēn) sea (thalassan), because (hoti) the (ho) diabolical one (diabolos) went down (katebē) to (pros) you (humas) having (echōn) great (megan) wrath (thumon), having seen (eidōs) that (hoti) it has (echei) little (oligon) time (kairon).”

 

Rev. 12:13 (LIT/UBS4) And (kai) when (hote) the (ho) dragon (drakōn) saw (eiden) that (hoti) it was thrown (eblēthē) into (eis) the (tēn) land (gēn), it pursued (ediōxen) the (tēn) female (gunaika) who (hētis) bore (eteken) the (ton) male (arsena).

 

Rev. 12:14 (LIT/UBS4) And (kai) to the (tē) female (gunaiki) were given (edothēsan) the (hai) two (duo) wings (pteruges) of the (tou) eagle (aetou), of the (tou) great one (megalou);

 

in order that (hina) she may fly herself (petētai) into (eis) the (tēn) desolate place (erēmon), into (eis) the (ton) place (topon) of her (autē) where (hopou) she is fed (trephetai) there (ekei) for [a] time (kairon) and (kai) times (kairous) and (kai) [a] half (hēmisu) [a] time (kairou), away from (apo) [the] face (prosōpou) of the (tou) serpent (opheōs).

 

Rev. 12:15 (LIT/UBS4) And (kai) the (ho) serpent (ophis) threw (ebalen) water (hudōr) out (ek) of the (tou) mouth (stomatos) of him (autou) as (hōs) [a] river (potamon) behind (opisō) the (tēs) female (gunaikos);

 

in order that (hina) it may make (poiēsē) her (autēn) river-worn (potamophorēton).

 

Rev. 12:16 (LIT/UBS4) And (kai) the (hē) land (gē) gave help (eboēthēsen) to the (tē) female (gunaiki).  

 

And (kai) the (hē) land (gē) opened up (ēnoixen) the (to) mouth (stoma) of her (autēs) and (kai) drank down2666 (katepien) the (ton) river (potamon) which (hon) the (ho) dragon (drakōn) threw (ebalen) out (ek) of the (tou) mouth (stomatos) of it (autou).

 

Rev. 12:17 (LIT/UBS4) And (kai) the (ho) dragon (drakōn) was made angry (ōrgisthē) over (epi) the (tē) female (gunaiki).

 

And (kai) it went away (apēlthen) to make (poiēsai) war (polemon) with (meta) the (tōn) remainder (loipōn) of the (tou) seed/sperm (spermatos) of her (autēs), of the ones (tōn) watchfully keeping (tērountōn) the (tas) injunctions (entolas) of the (tou) God (theou), and (kai) holding (echontōn) the (tēn) witness (marturian) of Jesus (Iēsou).
