GALATIANS

Chapter 5

Update:  2023.12.22

Gal. 5:1 (LIT/UBS4) Christ (Christos) freed (ēleutherōsen) [us, RE] for the (tē) freedom (eleutheria) of us (hēmas)!

Therefore (oun), stand (stēkete), and (kai) do not be held in (enechesthe) again (palin) to [a] yoke (zugō) of slavery (douleias).

Gal. 5:2 (LIT/UBS4) See (ide), I (egō) Paul (Paulos) say (legō) to you (humin), that (hoti) if perhaps (ean) you may be circumcised (peritemnēsthe), Christ (Christos) shall profit (ōphelēsei) you (humas) absolutely not one thing (ouden)!

Gal. 5:3 (LIT/UBS4) But (de) I cause myself to witness (marturomai) again (palin) to every (panti) mortal (anthrōpō) being circumcised (peritemnomenō), that (hoti) he is (estin) [a] debtor (opheiletēs) to do (poiēsai) the (ton) whole (holon) law (nomon).

Gal. 5:4 (LIT/UBS4) You were idled down2673 (katērgēthēte) away from (apo) Christ (Christou), ones who (hoitines) are made righteous (dikaiousthe) in (en) law (nomō).

You fell out (exepesate) of the (tēs) grace (charitos)!

Gal. 5:5 (LIT/UBS4) Because (gar) we (hēmeis) [in, AE] Spirit (pneumati) cause ourselves to receive out from (apekdechometha) [grace, v4, RE] [the] hope (elpida) of righteousness (dikaiosunēs) out (ek) of belief (pisteōs)!

(For one's righteousness coming through one's belief in Christ Jesus, see Rom. 3:19-31)

(For ones being born of the seed of the God, God’s Spirit, see Gal. 5:5; 1 John 3:9; 1 Pet. 1:23)

Gal. 5:6 (LIT/UBS4) Because (gar) in (en) Christ (Christō) Jesus (Iēsou) absolutely neither (oute) [is] any (ti) circumcised one (peritomē) stronger (ischuei), and absolutely nor (oute) [is] [any, RE] prepuced one (akrobustia) [stronger, RE]!

BUT (alla), belief (pistis) is causing itself to be energized (energoumenē) through (di’) love (agapēs)!

(For a believer's Spirit, prayer of need, and belief, all being energized by love, see Gal. 5:6; James 5:16)

Gal. 5:7 (LIT/UBS4) You were running (etrechete) beautifully (kalōs).

Who (tis) interrupted (enekopsen) you (humas) to not be persuaded (mē peithesthai) to the (tē) Truth (alētheia)?

Gal. 5:8 (LIT/UBS4) The (hē) persuasion (peismonē) [is] absolutely not (ouk) out (ek) of the one (tou) calling you aloud (kalountos humas)!

Gal. 5:9 (LIT/UBS4) [A] small (mikra) leaven (zumē) leavens (zumoi) the (to) whole (holon) mix (phurama).

Gal. 5:10 (LIT/UBS4) I (egō) have been persuaded (pepoitha) into (eis) you (humas) in (en) [the] lord (kuriō), that (hoti) you shall think (phronēsete) absolutely not one (ouden) other thing (allo)!

But (de) the one (ho) troubling (tarassōn) you (humas), he shall carry (bastasei) the (to) judicial decision (krima), if perhaps (ean) whoever (hostis) he may be (ē).

(For which thoughts we are to disciple ourselves to think, see Rom. 8:5-8, 12:2-3, 15-19, 14:4-9, 15:4-7; 1 Cor. 13:11, 14:20; 2 Cor. 13:11; Gal. 5:7-10; Phil. 1:3-7, 2:1-11, 3:8-19; Col. 3:1-15)

Gal. 5:11 (LIT/UBS4) But (de) I (egō), brothers (adelphoi), if (ei) I yet preach (eti kērussō) circumcision (peritomēn), why (ti) yet (eti) am I being pursued (diōkomai)?

Then (ara) <has> the (to) scandal (skandalon) of the (tou) stake (staurou) been idled down2673 (katērgētai)?

Gal. 5:12 (LIT/UBS4) I owe (ophelon) the ones (hoi) troubling (anastatountes) you (humas), they shall cut themselves away (apokopsontai) also (kai).

Gal. 5:13 (LIT/UBS4) Because (gar) you (humeis) were called aloud (eklēthēte) over (ep’) freedom (eleutheria), brothers (adelphoi);

only (monon) not (mē) the (tēn) freedom (eleutherian) into (eis) [an] occasion (aphormēn) for the (tē) flesh (sarki), BUT (alla), through (dia) the (tēs) love (agapēs) be slaves (douleuete) for one another (allēlois)!

Gal. 5:14 (LIT/UBS4) Because (gar) all (pas) of the (ho) law (nomos) has been fulfilled (peplērōtai) in (en) one (heni) word (logō), in (en) the (tō) [word, RE] 'Love (agapēseis)' the (ton) neighborly one (plēsion) of you (sou) as (hōs) yourself (seauton).

Gal. 5:15 (LIT/UBS4) But (de) if (ei) you bite (daknete) and (kai) devour (katesthiete) one another (allēlous), see to it (blepete) [that, AE] you may not be consumed up (mē analōthēte) under (hup’) [authority, AE] of one another (allēlōn)!

Gal. 5:16 (LIT/UBS4) But (de) I say (legō), walk around (peripateite) [in, AE] Spirit (pneumati), and (kai) no, absolutely not may you complete (telesēte) [the] lust (epithumian) of flesh (sarkos)!

Gal. 5:17 (LIT/UBS4) Because (gar) the (hē) flesh (sarx) lusts (epithumei) down against (kata) the (tou) Spirit (pneuma), but (de) the (to) Spirit (pneuma) [lusts, RE] down against (kata) the (tēs) flesh (sarkos);

because (gar) these things (tauta) cause themselves to lie opposed (antikeitai) to  another (allēlois);

in order that (hina) if perhaps (ean) what things (ha) you may desire (thelēte) [to do, RE] you may not do (mē poiēte) these things (tauta).

Gal. 5:18 (LIT/UBS4) But (de) if (ei) you are led (agesthe) [in, AE] Spirit (pneuma), you are (este) absolutely not (ouk) under (hupo) [authority, AE] of [the] law (nomon)!

Gal. 5:19 (LIT/UBS4) But (de) the (ta) works (erga) of the (tēs) flesh (sarkos) are (estin) manifested (phanera), which things (hatina) are (estin):

fornication (porneia);

uncleanness (akatharsia);

unrestrained excess (aselgeia);

Gal. 5:20 (LIT/UBS4) idolatry (eidōlolatria);

pharmaceuticals (pharmakeia);

hatreds (echthrai);

rivalry (eris);

jealousy (zēlos);

passions (thumoi);

intrigues (eritheiai);

dichotomies (dichostasiai);

heresies (haireseis);

Gal. 5:21 (LIT/UBS4) envyings (phthonoi);

intoxications (methai);

revelings (kōmoi);

and (kai) the things (ta) like (homoia) these (toutois), which things (ha) I said to you before (prolegō humin).

Down according to as (kathōs) I enunciated before (proeipon), that (hoti) the ones (hoi) habitually practicing (prassontes) the (ta) things of these (toiauta) shall absolutely not inherit (ou klēronomēsousin) [the] Kingdom932 (basileian) of God (theou)!

Gal. 5:22 (LIT/UBS4) But (de) the (ho) produce (karpos) of the (tou) Spirit (pneumatos) is (estin):

love (agapē);

joy (chara);

peace (eirēnē);

patience (makrothumia);

benevolence (chrēstotēs);

goodness (agathōsunē);

belief (pistis);

Gal. 5:23 (LIT/UBS4) meekness (prautēs);

empowerment (egkrateia)

Down against (kata) the things (tōn) of these (toioutōn) there is absolutely not (ouk estin) [a] law (nomos)!

Gal. 5:24 (LIT/UBS4) But (de) the ones (hoi) of the (tou) Christ (Christou) Jesus (Iēsou) have staked (estaurōsan) the (tēn) flesh (sarka), with (sun) the (tois) sufferings (pathēmasin) and (kai) the (tais) lusts (epithumias).

Gal. 5:25 (LIT/UBS4) If (ei) we live (zōmen) [in, AE] Spirit (pneumati), may we walk in line (stoichōmen) [with, AE] Spirit (pneumati) also (kai).

Gal. 5:26 (LIT/UBS4) May we not cause ourselves to become (mē ginōmetha) ones of empty glory (kenodoxoi), causing ourselves to call aloud toward (prokaloumenoi) one another (allēlous), envying (phthonountes) one another (allēlois).
