GALATIANS

Chapter 4

Update:  2022.08.21

Gal. 4:1 (LIT/UBS4) But (de) I say (legō), over (eph’) as much (hoson) time (chronon) <as> the (ho) heir (klēronomos) is (estin) [an] infant (nēpios), being (ōn) lord (kurios) of all (pantōn), he can bear through1308 (diapherei) absolutely not one thing (ouden) of [a] slave (doulou)!

Gal. 4:2 (LIT/UBS4) BUT (alla), he is (estin) under (hupo) [authority, AE] of guides over the way (epitropous), and (kai) [under, RE] [authority, AE] of house stewards (oikonomous) until (achri) the (tēs) [time, AE] preset (prothesmias) of the (tou) Father (patros)!

Gal. 4:3 (LIT/UBS4) Thusly (houtōs) we (hēmeis) also (kai), when (hote) we were causing ourselves to be (ēmen) infants (nēpioi) [in, AE] [the belief, v3:25, RE], we were causing ourselves to be (ēmetha) ones being made slaves (dedoulōmenoi) under (hupo) [authority, AE] of the (ta) elements (stoicheia) of the (tou) cosmos (kosmou).

Gal. 4:4 (LIT/UBS4) But (de) when (hote) the (to) fullness (plērōma) of the (tou) time (chronou) came (ēlthen), the (ho) God (theos) sent out (exapesteilen) the (ton) son (huion) of him (autou);

[the son, RE] having caused himself to come to pass (genomenon) out (ek) of [a] female (gunaikos), he having caused himself to come to pass (genomenon) under (hupo) [authority, AE] of [the] law (nomon),

Gal. 4:5 (LIT/UBS4) in order that (hina) he may buy-out1805 (exagorasē) the ones (tous) under (hupo) [authority, AE] of [the] law (nomon), in order that (hina) we may receive (apolabōmen) the (tēn) sonship (huiothesian)!

(For the Word’s heavenly pre-existence as a spirit-based being see Prov. 8:22-31; Dan. 3:25-28; John 1:1-2, 14, 30, 3:13, 31, 6:33, 38, 41, 50-51, 58-62, 8:23-26, 58, 13:3, 16:27-30, 17:5-8, 24; Rom. 8:29; 1 Cor. 10:4, 9, 15:47; Gal. 4:1-5; Eph. 4:8-10, Phil. 2:6-7; Col. 1:15; Heb. 1:4-6, 3:2; 1 Pet. 1:20; 1 John 1:2; Rev. 3:14)

Gal. 4:6 (LIT/UBS4) But (de) that (hoti) you are (este) sons (huioi), [the sonship, v5, RE] [is] [because, AE] the (ho) God (theos) sent out (exapesteilen) the (to) Spirit (pneuma) of the (tou) son (huiou) of him (autou) into (eis) the (tas) hearts (kardias) of us (humōn), crying (krazon), “Abba” (abba), the (ho) ‘Father’ (patēr).

Gal. 4:7 (LIT/UBS4) And so (hōste) you are (ei) absolutely no longer yet (ouketi) [a] slave (doulos), BUT (alla), [a] son (huios)!

But (de) if (ei) [a] son (huios), [an] heir (klēronomos) also (kai), through (dia) God (theou)!

Gal. 4:8 (LIT/UBS4) BUT (alla) then (tote), truly (men), you absolutely not having known (ouk eidotes) of God (theon), you slaved (edouleusate) for the ones (toi) not (mē) being (ousin) gods (theois) [by, AE] nature (phusei)!

Gal. 4:9 (LIT/UBS4) But (de) now (nun), you having known (gnontes) of God (theon), but (de) more (mallon), you having been known (gnōsthentes) under (hupo) [authority, AE] of God (theou), how (pōs) can you turn back (epistrephete) again (palin) into (eis) the (ta) disabled (asthenē) and (kai) poor (ptōcha) elements (stoicheia), for which things (hois) do you desire (thelete) to slave (douleuein) again (palin) up above (anōthen)!?

Gal. 4:10 (LIT/UBS4) You keep yourselves in watch (paratēreisthe) of days (hēmeras), and (kai) of moons (mēnas), and (kai) of points in time (kairous), and (kai) of years (eniautous)!

Gal. 4:11 (LIT/UBS4) I am made fearful (phoboumai) of you (humas), how (pōs) to no (mē) purpose (eikē) I have labored (kekopiaka) into (eis) you (humas).

Gal. 4:12 (LIT/UBS4) Cause yourselves to become (ginesthe) as (hōs) I (egō);

because (hoti) I also (kagō) [was] as (hōs) you (humeis) [are], brothers (adelphoi), I cause myself to beg (deomai) of you (humōn)!

You did absolutely not one thing of unrighteousness (ouden ēdikēsate) to me (me)!

Gal. 4:13 (LIT/UBS4) But (de) you have seen (oidate) that (hoti) through (di’) [a] disability (astheneian) of the (tēs) flesh (sarkos) I caused myself to evangelize (euēngelisamēn) to you (humin) the (to) previous (proteron) [time, AE].

Gal. 4:14 (LIT/UBS4) And (kai) of the (ton) testing (peirasmon) of you (humōn) in (en) the (tē) flesh (sarki) of me (mou), you absolutely did not reject [me, RE] as absolutely nothing (ouk exouthenēsate), but absolutely nor (oude) did you spit [me, RE] out (exeptusate)!

BUT (alla), you received (edexasthe) me (me) as (hōs) [a] messenger (angelon) of God (theou), as (hōs) Christ (Christon) Jesus (Iēsoun)!

Gal. 4:15 (LIT/UBS4) Therefore (oun), where (pou) [is] the (ho) happiness (makarismos) of you (humōn)?

Because (gar) I witness (marturō) to you (humin), that (hoti) if (ei) [you, RE] [were] inherently powered (dunaton), having dug out (exoruxantes) the (tous) eyes (ophthalmous) of you (humōn) you [would, AE] have given (edōkate) [them, AE] to me (moi)!

Gal. 4:16 (LIT/UBS4) And so (hōste), have I become (gegona) [a] hated one (echthros) of you (humōn), being [a] true one (alētheuōn) to you (humin)?

Gal. 4:17 (LIT/UBS4) [Are] [the ones under [authority, AE] of law, v5, RE] zealous (zēlousin) of you (humas) absolutely not (ou) beautifully (kalōs)!?

BUT (alla), they desire (thelousin) to close you out (ekkleisai) [from us, AE], in order that (hina) you may be zealous (zēloute) of them (autous)!

Gal. 4:18 (LIT/UBS4) But (de) [it is, AE] [a] beautiful thing (kalon) to cause yourselves to be zealous (zēlousthai) in (en) [a] beautiful thing (kalō);

and (kai) always (pantote), not (mē) only (monon) in (en) the (tō) [time, AE] of me (me) to be alongside (pareinai) to (pros) you (humas), ones born (tekna) of me (mou);

Gal. 4:19 (LIT/UBS4) of whom (hous) again (palin) I suffer birth pain (ōdinō) until (mechris) of whom (hou) Christ (Christos) may be formed (morphōthē) in (en) you (humin)!

(For the God, under his new covenant, being IN believers, and he working IN and THROUGH them, see Lev. 26:11-12; Ezek. 11:19-20, 36:25-27; Mat. 13:33; Luke 17:20-21; John 3:3-8, 14:20-21, 26, 17:14-21; Rom. 8:8-11; 1 Cor. 3:16-17, 6:19-20; 2 Cor. 4:3-7, 6:14-7:1, 13:3-5, 14; Gal. 1:15-16, 2:20, 4:18-19; Eph. 2:17-22, 3:14-19; Col. 1:27; 2 Tim. 1:14; Heb. 3:6, 13:20-21; 1 John 3:23-24, 4:7-8, 15-16)

Gal. 4:20 (LIT/UBS4) But (de) I was desiring (ēthelon) to be alongside (pareinai) to (pros) you (humas) at this time (arti), and (kai) to change (allaxai) the (tēn) voice (phōnēn) of me (mou), because (hoti) I cause myself to be perplexed (aporoumai) in (en) you (humin).

Gal. 4:21 (LIT/UBS4) The ones (hoi) say (legete) to me (moi) you are desiring (thelontes) to be (einai) under (hupo) [authority, AE] of [the] law (nomon);

do you absolutely not (ouk) hear (akouete) the (ton) law (nomon)!?

Gal. 4:22 (LIT/UBS4) Because (gar) it has been written (gegraptai) that (hoti) Abraham (Abraam) had (eschen) two (duo) sons (huious);

one (hena) out (ek) of the (tēs) young maid (paidiskēs), and (kai) one (hena) out (ek) of the (tēs) free one (eleutheras).

Gal. 4:23 (LIT/UBS4) But (all’), truly (men), the one (ho) [son, v22, RE] has been generated (gegennētai) out (ek) of the (tēs) young maid (paidiskēs), down on account (kata) of flesh (sarka)!

But (de) the [other, AE] one (ho) [has been generated, RE] out (ek) of the (tēs) free one (eleutheras), through (di) [a] promise (epangelias);

(See Gen. 16:1-18:19)

Gal. 4:24 (LIT/UBS4) which ones (hatina) are (estin) being allegorized238 (allēgoroumena), because (gar) these ones (hautai) are (eisin) two (duo) covenants (diathēkai).

Truly (men), one (mia) [covenant, RE] [is] from (apo) mount (arous) Sinai (Sina), generating one (gennōsa) into (eis) slavery (douleian), which (hētis) [slave, RE] is (estin) Hagar (Hagar)!

Gal. 4:25 (LIT/UBS4) But (de) Hagar (Hagar) is (estin) the (to)  mount (oros) Sinai (Sina) in (en) the (tē) Arabia (Arabia).

But (de) it is in line together with (sustoichei) the (tē) Jerusalem (Hierousalēm) now (nun), because (gar) she slaves (douleuei) together with (meta) the (tōn) ones born (teknōn) of her (autēa).

Gal. 4:26 (LIT/UBS4) But (de) the (hē) Jerusalem (Hierousalēm) up high (anō) is (estin) [a] free one (eleuthera), which (hētis) [Jerusalem, RE] is (estin) [the] mother (mētēr) of us (hēmōn).

(Is this posterity of Abraham, the posterity which God promised to Abraham, the ones out of it who shall believe God's Word as Abraham did, which ones the writer of Hebrews refers to as a "city", are they the new heavenly Jerusalem, the "city" of God? Mat. 5:14, 35; Gal. 4:25-26; Heb. 11:10-16, 12:22-24, 13:14; Rev. 3:12, 21:2-3, 10-27, 22:14, 19)

Gal. 4:27 (LIT/UBS4) Because (gar) it has been written (gegraptai), “Be well-pleased (euphranthēti) sterile one (steira), the one (hē) absolutely not (ou) bearing (tiktousa)!

Break out (rhēxon) and (kai) shout (boēson), the one (hē) absolutely not (ouk) suffering birth pains (ōdinousa)!

Because (hoti) the (ta) ones born (tekna) of the (tēs) desolate one (erēmou) [are] many (polla) more (mallon) than (ē) [the ones born, RE] of the one (tēs) having (echousēs) the (ton) male (andra)!”

(See Isa. 54:1)

Gal. 4:28 (LIT/UBS4) But (de) you (humeis), brothers (adelphoi), down on account (kata) of Isaac (Isaak), you are (este) ones born (tekna) of promise (epangelias)!

Gal. 4:29 (LIT/UBS4) BUT (all’), so be it as (hōsper) then (tote);

the (ho) [son, v22, RE] having been generated (gennētheis) down on account (kata) of flesh (sarka) is pursuing (ediōken) the (ton) [son, v22, RE] [having been generated, RE] down on account (kata) of Spirit (pneuma)

And (kai) [it is, AE] thusly (houtōs) now (nun)!

Gal. 4:30 (LIT/UBS4) BUT (alla), what (ti) <does> the (hē) writing (graphē) say (legei)!?

"Throw out (ekbale) the (tēn) young maid (paidiskēn) and (kai) the (tēn) son (huion) of her (autēs).

Because (gar) the (ho) son (huios) of the (tēs) young maid (paidiskēs) shall no, absolutely not inherit (mē ou klēronomēsei) together with (meta) the (tou) son (huiou) of the (tēs) free one (eleutheras)!"

(See Gen. 21:10)

Gal. 4:31 (LIT/UBS4) Through this (dio) [writing, v30, RE], brothers (adelphoi), we are absolutely not (ouk esmen) ones born (tekna) of [the] young maid (paidiskēs), BUT (alla), of the (tēs) free one (eleutheras)!
