COLOSSIANS

 

Chapter 2

 

2:1 Because (gar) I desire (thelō) you (humas) to have seen (eidnai) what-sized (hēlikon) agony (agōna) I have (echō) over (huper) [the sake] of you (humōn), and (kai) the ones (tōn) in (en) Laodicea (Laodikeia), and (kai) as many as (hosoi) have absolutely not seen (ouch heorakan) the (to) face (prosōpon) of me (mou) in (en) flesh (sarki);

 

2:2 in order that (hina) the (hai) hearts (kardiai) of them (autō) may be consoled (paraklēthōsin), they having been made to come together (sumbibasthentes) in (en) love (agapē);

 

and (kai) [they having been made to come together] into (eis) all (pan) wealth (ploutos) of the (tēs) full lading (plērophorias) of the (tēs) intelligence (suneseōs);

 

[they having been made to come together] into (eis) an experiential knowledge (epignōsin) of the (tou) mystery (mustēriou) of the (tou) God (theou) of Christ (Christou),

 

2:3 in (en) which (hō) [mystery, v2] are being (eisin) all (pantes) the (hoi) treasures (thēsauroi) of the (tēs) hidden (apokruphoi) wisdom (sophias) and (kai) knowledge (gnōseōs)!

 

2:4 I say (legō) this (touto) in order that (hina) not one (mēdeis) of you (humas) may be counted to be aside (paralogizētai) [from this] in (en) persuasive words (pithanologia);

 

2:5 and (kai) because (gar) if (ei) [in] the (tē) flesh (sarki) I am being away from (apeimi) [you], BUT (alla), [in] the (tō) Spirit (pneumatic) I am being (eimi) together with (sun) you (humin);

 

and (kai) [because] I am (eimi) rejoicing (chairōn) seeing (blepōn) the (tēn) order (taxin) of you (humōn), and (kai) the (to) solidarity (stereōma) of the (tēs) belief (pisteōs) of you (humōn) in (en) Christ (christen)!

 

2:6 Therefore (oun), as (hōs) you received alongside (parelabete) the (ton) Christ (Christon) Jesus (Iēsoun) the (ton) lord (kurion), walk around (peripateite) in (en) him (autō);

 

2:7 [as] ones having been rooted (errizōmenoi);

 

and (kai) [as] ones being built over into domed-roof houses2026 (epoikodomoumenoi) in (en) him (autō);

 

and (kai) [as] ones being established (bebaioumenoi) to the (tē) belief (pistei) down according to as (kathōs) you were taught (edidachthēte), abounding (perisseuontes) in (en) thanksgiving (eucharistia).

 

2:8 Look (blepete), not (mē) anyone (tis) of you (humas) shall cause himself to be (estai) the (ho) one led to being stripped (sulagōgōn), through (dia) the (tēs) philosophy (philosophias) and (kai) empty (kenēs) deceitfulness (apatēs) down according to (kata) the (tēn) tradition (paradosin) of the (tōn) mortals (anthrōpōn), down according to (kata) the (ta) elements (stoicheia) of the (tou) cosmos (kosmou), and (kai) absolutely not (ou) down according to (kata) Christ (Christon)

2:9 Because (hoti) in (en) him (autō) homes-down (katoikei) all (pan) the (to) fullness (plērōma) of the (tēs) godliness (theotētos) [of God] bodily (sōmatikōs)

2:10 And (kai) you are (este) ones having been filled (peplērōmenoi) in (en) him (autō), who (hos) is (estin) the (hē) head (kephalē) of every (pasēs) chief one746 (archēs), and (kai) [of every] authority (exousias);

 

2:11 in (en) whom (hō) you are circumcised (perietmēthēte) also (kai) to a circumcision (peritomē) not hands-made (acheiropoiētō), in (en) the (tē) dropping away (apekdusei) of the (tou) body (sōmatos) of the (tēs) flesh (sarkos), in (en) the (tē) circumcision (peritomē) of the (tou) Christ (Christou);

 

2:12 you having been buried together with (suntaphentes) him (autō) in (en) the (tō) baptism (baptismō), in (en) which (ho) you also were aroused together with (sunēgerthēte kai) [him] through (dia) the (tēs) belief (pisteōs) of the (tēs) energizing (energeias) of the (tou) God (theou), of the (tou) [energizing] having aroused (egeirantos) him (auton) out (ek) of dead ones (nekrōn).

2:13 And (kai) you (humas) being (ontas) dead ones (nekrous) in (en) the (tois) side-falls3900 (paraptōmasin) and (kai) the (tē) prepuce (akrobustia) of the (tēs) flesh (sarkos) of you (humōn), He made you alive together (sunezōopoiēsen humas) with (sun) him (autō), He having caused Himself to be gracious (charisamenos) to us (hēmin) [about] all (panta) of the (ta) side-falls3900 (paraptōmata);

 

2:14 He having oiled out (exaleipsas) the (to) handwriting (cheirographon) down against (kath’) us (hēmōn), the (tois) dogmas (dogmasin), which (ho) [handwriting] was being (ēn) contrary (hupenantion) to us (hēmin).

 

And (kai) it (auto) has been removed (ērken) out (ek) of the (tou) midst (mesou), it (auto) having been nailed (prosēlōsas) to the (tō) stake (staurō)!

 

2:15 He having caused Himself to drop out away from (apekdusamenos) the (tas) chief ones746 (archas), and (kai) the (tas) authorities (exousias), He made a show (edeigmatisen) in (en) boldness (parrēsia), He having been triumphant (thriambeusas) in (en) it (autō).

 

2:16 Therefore (oun) [do] not (mē) [let] anyone (tis) judge (krinetō) you (humas) in (en) food (brōsei) and (kai) in (en) drink (posei), or (ē) in (en) part (merei) of a feast (heortēs), or (ē) of a new moon (neomēnias), or (ē) of sabbaths (sabbatōn);

 

2:17 of which things (ha) there is (estin) a shadow (skia) of the things (tōn) being about (mellontōn) [to be].

 

But (de) the (to) body (sōma) of the (tou) Christ (Christou),

 

2:18 [let] not one (mēdies) of you (humas), (one desiring (thelōn) [to be] in (en) humility of thought (tapienophrosunē), and (kai) religious observance (thrēskeia) of the (tō) messengers (angelōn)), arbitrate it down (katabrabeuetō);

 

[being] one intruding into (embateuōn) things which (ha) he has gazed at (heoraken), being one idly puffed up (eikē phusioumenos) under (hupo) [authority] of the (tou) mind (noos) of the (tēs) flesh (sarkos) of him (autou),

 

2:19 and (kai) absolutely not (ou) powerfully holding (kratōn) the (tēn) head (kephalēn);

 

out (ex) of whom (hou) all (pan) the (to) body (sōma), through (dia) the (tōn) joints (haphōn) and (kai) bonds together with (sundesmōn) [it] being choreographed (epichorēgoumenon) and (kai) being made to come together (sumbibazomenon), grows (auxei) of the (tēn) growth (auxēsin) of the (tou) God (theou)!

 

2:20 If (ei) you died away (apethanete) together with (sun) Christ (Christō), away from (apo) the (tōn) elements (stoicheiōn) of the (tou) cosmos (kosmou), why (ti), as (hōs) [if] living (zōntes) in (en) [the] cosmos (kosmō), are you dogmatized (dogmatizesthe)?

 

2:21 Do not cause yourself to take hold of (mē hapsē)..., but do not cause yourself to taste (mēde geusē)..., but do not touch (mēde thigēs)...,

 

2:22 of which (ha) [dogmas, v20], the (tē) use (apochrēsei) of the (ta) injunctions (entalmata) and (kai) teachings (didaskalias) down according to (kata) the (tōn) mortals (anthrōpōn), it is (estin) all (panta) into (eis) corruption (phthoran).

 

2:23 Which things (hatina), it is (estin) true (men), are holding (echonta) a word (logon) of wisdom (sophias) in (en) desirable religious observance (ethelothrēskia), and (kai) [in] humility of thought (tapeinophrosunē), and (kai) [in being] unsparing (apheidia) [of the] body (sōmatos);

 

[which things are] absolutely not (ouk) in (en) to any (tini) highly esteemed value (timē) toward (pros) a fulfilling (plēsmonēn) of the (tēs) flesh (sarkos)!
