2 CORINTHIANS

Chapter 13

Update:  2022.01.02

2 Cor. 13:1 (LIT/UBS4) This third [time, AE] (triton touto) I cause myself to come (erchomai) to (pros) you (humas)

Upon (epi) [the] mouth (stomatos) of two (duo) and (kai) three (triōn) witnesses (marturōn) every (pan) statement (rhēma) shall be stood (stathesetai).

2 Cor. 13:2 (LIT/UBS4) As (hōs) I have enunciated before (proeirēka), and (kai) I said before (prolegō) being alongside (parōn) [of you, AE] the (to) second [time, AE] (deuteron), and (kai) being away from (apōn) [you, AE] now (nun), to the ones (tois) having sinned before (proēmartēkosin) and (kai) to all (pasin) the ones (tois) [who, AE] remain (loipois), that (hoti) if perhaps (ean) I may come (elthō) into (eis) the (to) [sin, AE] again (palin), I shall absolutely not cause myself to spare (ou pheisomai) [it, AE]!

2 Cor. 13:3 (LIT/UBS4) Since (epei) you search (zēteite) for [a] proof (dokimēn) of the (tou) Christ (Christou) speaking (lalountos) in (en) me (emoi), who (hos) into (eis) you (humas) is absolutely not disabled (ouk asthenei), BUT (alla), he is inherently powered (dunatei) in (en) you (humin),

2 Cor. 13:4 (LIT/UBS4) and (kai) because (gar) he was staked (estaurōthē) out (ex) of [a] disability (astheneias), BUT (alla), he lives (zē) out (ek) of [a] work of inherent power (dunameōs) of God (theou),

and (kai) because (gar) we (hēmeis) are disabled (asthenoumen), BUT (alla), in (en) him (auto) we shall live (zēsomen) together with (sun) him (autō) out (ek) of [a] work of inherent power (dunameōs) of God (theou) into (eis) you (humas),

2 Cor. 13:5 (LIT/UBS4) are you testing (peirazete) yourselves (heautous) if (ei) you are (este) in (en) the (te) belief (pistei)!?

Prove (dokimazete) yourselves (heautous)!

Or (ē) do you absolutely not experientially know (ouk epiginōskete) yourselves (heautous), if (ei) you are (este) not (mē) some (ti) unapproved ones (adokimoi), [if, RE] that (hoti) Jesus (Iēsous) Christ (Christos) is (estin) in (en) you (humas)!?

(For the God, under his new covenant, being IN believers, and he working IN and THROUGH them, see Lev. 26:11-12; Ezek. 11:19-20, 36:25-27; Mat. 13:33; Luke 17:20-21; John 3:3-8, 14:20-21, 26, 17:14-21; Rom. 8:8-11; 1 Cor. 3:16-17, 6:19-20; 2 Cor. 4:3-7, 6:14-7:1, 13:3-5, 14; Gal. 1:15-16, 2:20, 4:18-19; Eph. 2:17-22, 3:14-19; Col. 1:27; 2 Tim. 1:14; Heb. 3:6, 13:20-21; 1 John 3:23-24, 4:7-8, 15-16)

(For the Spirit of God being in Christ, and the Spirit of Christ being in those who believe upon his name, making them more than conquerors now, see Mat. 10:25; Acts 1:4-8; Rom. 8:9-11, 37; 1 Cor. 12:6; 2 Cor. 2:14, 13:3-5; Gal. 1:16; Eph. 1:19-20, 4:13, 6:13-18; Phil. 2:13, 4:13; Col. 1:27-29; 1 Thes. 2:13; 2 Tim. 1:7; 1 John 4:4, 5:4-5)

2 Cor. 13:6 (LIT/UBS4) But (de) I hope (elpizō) that (hoti) you shall cause yourselves to know (gnōsesthe) that (hoti) we (hēmeis) are absolutely not (ouk) unapproved ones (adokimoi)!

2 Cor. 13:7 (LIT/UBS4) But (de) we cause ourselves to vow (euchometha) to (pros) the (ton) God (theon) not (mē) to do (poiēsai) to you (humas) not one (mēden) malicious thing (kakon);

absolutely not (ouch) in order that (hina) we (hēmeis) may be caused to shine (phanōmen) [as, AE] approved ones (dokimoi), BUT (alla), in order that (hina) you (humeis) may do (poiēte) the (to) beautiful thing (kalon), but (de) we (hēmeis) may be (ōmen) as (hōs) unapproved ones (adokimoi)!

2 Cor. 13:8 (LIT/UBS4) Because (gar) we can absolutely not inherently power ourselves (ou dunametha) [to do, AE] anything (ti) down against (kata) the (tēs) Truth (alētheias), BUT (alla), over (huper) [the sake, AE] of the (tēs) Truth (alētheias)!

2 Cor. 13:9 (LIT/UBS4) Because (gar) we rejoice (chairomen) when perhaps (hotan) we (hēmeis) may be disabled (asthenōmen) but (de) you (humeis) may be (ēte) inherently powered ones (dunatoi);

and (kai) this (touto) we cause ourselves to vow (euchometha), the (tēn) making fit (katartisin) of you (humōn)!

2 Cor. 13:10 (LIT/UBS4) Through (dia) [the sake, AE] of these things (tauta) I write (graphō) this (touto) [when, AE] I am being away from (apōn) [you, AE], in order that (hina) I may not cause myself to use (mē chrēsōmai) [words, AE] sharply (apotomōs) [when, AE] I am being alongside (parōn) [of you, AE], down on account (kata) of the (tēn) authority (exousian) which (hēn) the (ho) lord (kurios) gave (edōken) to me (moi) into (eis) [the building, AE] of [a] domed-roof house3619 (oikodomēn), and (kai) absolutely not (ouk) into (eis) [a] downthrow (kathairesin) [of you, AE]!

2 Cor. 13:11 (LIT/UBS4) Remaining (loipon) brothers (adelphoi), rejoice (chairete);

be made fit (katartizesthe);

be consoled (parakaleisthe);

think (phroneite) the (to) same thing (auto);

be at peace (eirēneuete);

and (kai) the (ho) God (theos) of the (tēs) love (agapēs) and (kai) peace (eirēnēs) shall cause himself to be (estai) with (meth’) you (humōn).

(For which thoughts we are to disciple ourselves to think, see Rom. 8:5-8, 12:2-3, 15-19, 14:4-9, 15:4-7; 1 Cor. 13:11, 14:20; 2 Cor. 13:11; Gal. 5:7-10; Phil. 1:3-7, 2:1-11, 3:8-19; Col. 3:1-15)

2 Cor. 13:12 (LIT/UBS4) Cause yourselves to embrace (aspasasthe) one another (allēlous) in (en) [a] holy (hagiō) kiss (philēmati).

2 Cor. 13:13 (LIT/UBS4) The (hoi) holy ones (hagioi) all (pantes) embrace (aspazontai) you (humas).

2 Cor. 13:14 (LIT/UBS4) The (hē) grace (charis) of the (tou) Lord (kuiou) Jesus (Iēsou) Christ (Christou), and (kai) the (hē) love (agapē) of the (tou) God (theou), and (kai) the (hē) fellowship (koinōnia) of the (tou) holy (hagiou) Spirit (pneumatos) [be] with (meta) you (humōn) all (pantōn).

(For the God, under his new covenant, being IN believers, and he working IN and THROUGH them, see Lev. 26:11-12; Ezek. 11:19-20, 36:25-27; Mat. 13:33; Luke 17:20-21; John 3:3-8, 14:20-21, 26, 17:14-21; Rom. 8:8-11; 1 Cor. 3:16-17, 6:19-20; 2 Cor. 4:3-7, 6:14-7:1, 13:3-5, 14; Gal. 1:15-16, 2:20, 4:18-19; Eph. 2:17-22, 3:14-19; Col. 1:27; 2 Tim. 1:14; Heb. 3:6, 13:20-21; 1 John 3:23-24, 4:7-8, 15-16)
