1 PETER

 

Chapter 1

1:3 Eulogized (eulogētos) [is] the (ho) God (theos) and (kai) Father (patēr) of the (tou) lord (kuriou) of us (hēmōn), Jesus (Iēsou) Christ (Christou);

1:4 [He having generated us above, v3] into (eis) an incorruptible (aphtharton) inheritance (klēronomian), and (kai) [into] an uncontaminated one (amianton), and (kai) [into] an unfading one (amaranton), [an inheritance] having been watchfully kept (tetērēmenēn) in (en) [the] heavens (ouranois);

 

1:5 [an inheritance, v4] into (eis) you (humas), the ones (tous) being watched (phrouroumenous) in (en) [the] inherent power (dunamin) of God (theou), through (dia) belief (pisteōs) into (eis) wholeness (sōtērian);

But (de) it being proved (dokimazomenou) though (dia) fire (puros), it may be found (heurethē) [to be] into (eis) praise (epainon), and (kai) [into] glory (doxan), and (kai) [into] highly esteemed value (timēn), in (en) [the] revelation (apokalupsei) of Jesus (Iēsou) Christ (Christou),

 

1:8 whom (hon) you having absolutely not seen (ouk idontes), you love (agapate);

 

into (eis) whom (hon) at this time (arti) you are not gazing (mē horōntes), you are believing (pisteuontes)!

 

But (de) cause yourselves to jump for joy (agalliasthe), a joy (chara) unable to be spoken out (aneklalētō)!

 

And (kai) he having been glorified (dedoxasmenē),

1:9 you are providing for yourselves (komizomenoi) the (to) completion (telos) of the (tēs)  belief (pisteōs) of you (humōn), [the] wholeness (sōtērian) of [the] souls (psuchōn) [of you];

 

1:10 about (peri) which (hēs) wholeness (sōtērias) the (hoi) prophets (prophētai) sought out (exezētēsan), and (kai) searched out (exēraunēsan), about (peri) the (tēs) grace (charitos) having been prophesied (prophēteusantes) into (eis) you (humas);

 

1:11 searching (eraunōntes) into (eis) what (tina) or (ē) which (poion) time (kairon) was being made obvious (edēlou) [for] the (to) Spirit (pneuma) of Christ (Christou) [to be] in (en) them (autois);

1:12 to whom (hois) it was revealed (apekaluphthē) that (hoti) absolutely not (ouch) to themselves (heautois) but (de) to you (humin) they are ministering (diēkonoun) them (auta);

Hope (elpisate) completely (teleiōs) upon (epi) the (tēn) grace (charin) being brought (pheromenēn) to you (humin) in (en) [the] revelation (apokalupsei) of Jesus (Iēsou) Christ (Christou).

 

1:14 As (hōs) ones born (tekna) of attentive hearing (hupakoēs), do not be scheming yourselves together with (mē suschēmatizomenoi) the (tais) previous (proteron) lusts (epithumiais) in (en) the (tē) ignorance (agnoia) of you (humōn).

 

1:15 BUT (alla), down on account (kata) of the (ton) holy one (hagion) having called you aloud (kalesanta humas), you be caused to become (genēthēte) holy ones (hagioi) yourselves (autoi) also (kai), in (en) every (pasē) behavior (anastrophē)!

 

1:16 Through the reason that (dioti) it has been written (gegraptai) that (hoti), “You shall cause yourselves to be (esesthe) holy ones (hagioi), because (hoti) I (egō) am being (eimi) a holy one (hagios).”

1:17 And (kai) if (ei) you cause yourselves to call aloud upon (epikaleisthe) [the] Father (patera), the one (ton) judging (krinonta) down according to (kata) the (to) work (ergon) of each (hekastou) without taking at face value (aprosōpolēmptōs), cause yourselves to turn up390 (anastraphēte) in (en) fear (phobō) [at] the (ton) time (chronon) of the (tēs) side-housing3941 (paroikias) of you (humōn);

 

1:18 you having seen (eidotes) that (hoti) you were absolutely not redeemed (ou elutrōthēte) for corruptible things (phthartois), for silver (arguriō), or (ē) for gold (chrusiō), out (ek) of the (tēs) empty (mataias) behavior (anastrophēs) of you (humōn) given alongside of the fathers (patroparadotou) [of you],

 

1:19 BUT (alla), for highly esteemed (timiō) blood (haimati) of Christ (Christou), [blood] as (hōs) of an unblemished (amōmou) and (kai) unstained (aspilou) lamb (amnou)!

 

1:20 Truly (men), he having been known before (proegnōsmenou), before (pro) [the] throw-down (katabolēs) of [the] cosmos (kosmou);

1:22 the (tas) souls (psuchas) of you (humōn) having been pardoned (hēgnikotes) in (en) to the (tē) attentive hearing (hupakoē) of the (tēs) Truth (alētheias);

 

into (eis) brotherly love (philadelphian) without acting (anupokriton);

 

[into] love (agapēsate) of one another (allēlous) stretched outwardly (ektenōs), out (ek) of a cleansed (katharas) heart (kardias).

 

1:23 You having been generated above (anagegennēmenoi) absolutely not (ouk) out (ek) of a corruptible (phthartēs) spore (sporas), BUT (alla), [out] of an incorruptible (aphthartou) [spore], through (dia) a living (zōntos) and (kai) staying (menontos) Word (logou) of God (theou);

1:24 through the reason that (dioti) every (pasa) flesh (sarx) [is] as (hōs) pasturage (chortos), and (kai) every (pasa) glory (doxa) of it (autēs) [is] as (hōs) a flower (anthos) of pasturage (chortou)!

 

The (ho) pasturage (chortos) was dried out (exēranthē), and (kai) the (to) flower (anthos) fell out (exepesen)!

 

1:25 But (de) the (to) statement (rhēma) of [the] lord (kuriou) stays (menei) into (eis) the (ton) age (aiōna).

 

But (de) this (touto) is (estin) the (to) statement (rhēma), the one (to) having been evangelized (euangelisthen).
