Chapter 21

Rev. 21:1 (LIT/UBS4) And (kai) I saw (eidon) [a] new (kainon) heaven (ouranon), and (kai) [a] new (kainēn) land (gēn).

 

Because (gar) the (ho) first (prōtos) heaven (ouranos) and (kai) the (hē) first (prōtē) land (gē), they went away (apēlthan)!  

 

And (kai) the (hē) sea (thalassa) is (estin) absolutely no (ouk) longer yet (eti)!

 

Rev. 21:2 (LIT/UBS4) And (kai) the (tēn) city (polin), the (tēn) new (kainēn) holy (hagian) Jerusalem (Hierousalēm), I saw (eidon) stepping down (katabainousan) out (ek) of the (tou) heaven (ouranou) from (apo) the (tou) God (theou), she having been made ready (hētoimasmenēn) as (hōs) [a] bride (numphēn), she having been set in order (kekosmēmenēn) for the (tō) male (andri) of her (autē).

 

Rev. 21:3 (LIT/UBS4) And (kai) I heard (ēkousa) [a] great (megalēs) voice (phōnēs) out (ek) of the (tou) throne (thronou), saying (legousēs), “Behold (idou), the (hē) tent (skēnē) of the (tou) God (theou) [is] with (meta) the (tōn) mortals (anthrōpōn).  

 

And (kai) he shall tent (skēnōsei) with (met’) them (autōn).  

 

And (kai) they (autoi) shall cause themselves to become (esontai) [a] people (laoi) of him (autou).  

 

And (kai) he (autos), the (ho) God (theos) with (met’) them (autōn), shall cause himself to be (estai) [the] God (theos) of them (autōn).

(Is this posterity of Abraham, the posterity which God promised to Abraham, the ones out of it who shall believe God's Word as Abraham did, which ones the writer of Hebrews refers to as a "city", are they the new heavenly Jerusalem, the "city" of God? Rev. 21:4 (LIT/UBS4) And (kai) he shall oil out1813 (exaleipsei) every (pan) tear (dakruon) out (ak) of the (tōn) eyes (ophthalmōn) of them (autōn).  

 

And (kai) the (ho) death (thanatos) shall absolutely no (ouk) longer yet (eti) cause itself to be (estai)

 

And absolutely not (oute) mourning (penthos), and absolutely not (oute) shouting (kraugē), and absolutely not (oute) distress (ponos) shall absolutely no (ouk) longer yet (eti) cause itself to be (estai), because (hoti) the (ta) first things (prōta) went away (apēlthan)!”

Rev. 21:5 (LIT/UBS4) And (kai) the one (ho) causing himself to sit down (kathēmenos) upon (epi) the (tō) throne (thronō) enunciated (eipen), “Behold (idou), I make (poiō) all things (panta) new (kaina)!  

 

And (kai) he says (legei), “Write (grapson), because (hoti) the (hoi) words (logoi), these ones (houtoi), are (eisin) believable (pistoi) and (kai) true (alēthinoi).”

 

Rev. 21:6 (LIT/UBS4) And (kai) he enunciated (eipen) to me (moi), “They have come to pass (gegonan).

 

I (egō) am (eimi) the (to) alpha one (alpha) and (kai) the (to) omega one (ō), the (hē) beginning one746 (archē) and (kai) the (to) completing one (telos).

I (egō), to the one (tō) thirsting (dipsōnti), I shall give (dōsō) out (ek) of the (tēs) fountain (pēgēs) of the (tou) water (hudatos) of the (tēs) life (zōēs), gratuitously (dōrean).

Rev. 21:7 (LIT/UBS4) The one (ho) conquering (nikōn) shall inherit (klēronomēsei) these things (tauta).  

 

And (kai) I shall cause myself to be (esomai) to him (autō) God (theos), and (kai) he (autos) shall cause himself to be (estai) to me (moi) [a] son (huios)

Rev. 21:8 (LIT/UBS4) But (de) for the (tois) cowardly ones (deilois), and (kai) unbelieving ones (apistois), and (kai) for ones having caused themselves to be foul (ebdelugmenois), and (kai) for murderers (phoneusin), and (kai) for fornicators (pornois), and (kai) for sorcerers (pharmakois), and (kai) for idolaters (eidōlolatrais), and (kai) for all (pasin) the (tois) false ones (pseudesin), the (to) allotment (meros) of them (autōn) [shall be] in (en) the (tē) harbor (limnē), the one (tē) burning (kaiomenē) [with, AE] fire (puri) and (kai) sulfur (theiō), which (ho) is (estin) the (ho) death (thanatos), the (ho) second (deuteros) [death, RE].”

 

Rev. 21:9 (LIT/UBS4) And (kai) one (heis) out (ek) of the (tōn) seven (hepta) messengers (angelōn) came (ēlthen), of the (tōn) [messengers, RE] holding (echontōn) the (tas) seven (hepta) bowls (phialas), the ones (tōn) being fully loaded (gemontōn) of the (tōn) seven (hepta) plagues (plēgōn), the (tōn) last ones (eschatōn).  

 

And (kai) it spoke (elalēsen) with (met’) me (emou), saying (legōn), “Next (deuro) I shall thoroughly show (deixō) to you (soi) the (tēn) bride (numphēn), the (tēn) female (gunaika) of the (tou) little lamb (arniou).”

 

Rev. 21:10 (LIT/UBS4) And (kai) it brought me away (apēnenken me) in (en) Spirit (pneumati) over (epi) [a] great (mega) and (kai) high (hupsēlon) mountain (oros), and (kai) it thoroughly showed (edeixen) to me (moi) the (tēn) city (polin), the (tēn) holy (hagian) Jerusalem (Hierousalēm), stepping down (katabainousan) out (ek) of the (tou) heaven (ouranou) from (apo) the (tou) God (theou),

 

Rev. 21:11 (LIT/UBS4) holding (echousan) the (tēn) glory (doxan) of the (tou) God (theou).  

 

The (ho) illumination (phōstēr) of her (autēs) [was] one like (homoios) [a] highly valued (timiōtatō) stone (lithō) being crystal (krustallizonti), as (hōs) [a] jasper (iaspidi) stone (lithō),

 

Rev. 21:12 (LIT/UBS4) and (kai) having (echousa) [a] great (mega) and (kai) high (hupsēlon) wall (teichos) having (echousa) twelve (dōdeka) gates (pulōnas)

 

And (kai) over (epi) the (tois) gates (pulōsin) [are] names (onomata) also (kai) having been inscribed (epigegrammena) of twelve (dōdeka) messengers (angelous), which (ha) are (estin) the (ta) names (onomata) of the (tōn) twelve (dōdeka) tribes (phulōn), sons (huiōn) of Israel (Israēl);

 

Rev. 21:13 (LIT/UBS4) from (apo) risings395 (anatolēs) [of the sun, AE] three (treis) gates (pulōnes), and (kai) from (apo) [the] north wind (borra) three (treis) gates (pulōnes), and (kai) from (apo) [the] south wind (notou) three (treis) gates (pulōnes), and (kai) from (apo) sinkings1424 (dusmōn) [of the sun, AE] three (treis) gates (pulōnes).

 

Rev. 21:14 (LIT/UBS4) And (kai) the (to) wall (teichos) of the (tēs) city (poleōs) is having (echōn) twelve (dōdeka) foundations (themelious), and (kai) over (epi) them (autōn) [are] twelve (dōdeka) names (onomata) of the (tōn) twelve (dōdeka) apostles (apostolōn) of the (tou) little lamb (arniou).

 

Rev. 21:15 (LIT/UBS4) And (kai) the one (ho) speaking (lalōn) with (met’) me (emou) was holding (eichen) [a] golden (chrusoun) measurement (metron) reed (kalamon), in order that (hina) it may measure (metrēsē) the (tēn) city (polin), and (kai) the (tous) gates (pulōnas) of her (autēs), and (kai) the (to) walls (teichos) of her (autēs).

 

Rev. 21:16 (LIT/UBS4) And (kai) the (hē) city (polis) is laid (keitai) four-cornered (tetragōnos).

 

And (kai) the (to) length (mēkos) of her (autēs) [is] as much as (hoson) the (to) width (platos) also (kai).  

 

And (kai) it measured (emetrēsen) the (tēn) city (polin) to the (tō) reed (kalamō) [to be] over (epi) twelve (dōdeka) thousands (chiliadōn) of stadiums (stadiōn).  

 

The (to) length (mēkos), and (kai) the (to) width (platos), and (kai) the (to) height (hupsos) of her (autēs) are (estin) [sic] equal (isa).

 

Rev. 21:17 (LIT/UBS4) And (kai) it measured (emetrēsen) the (to) wall (teichos) of her (autēs) [to be] [a] hundred (hekaton) forty (tesserakonta) four (tessarōn) cubits (pēchōn), [a] measurement (metron) of [a] mortal (anthrōpou), which (ho) is (estin) [[a] measurement, RE] of [a] messenger (angelou).

 

Rev. 21:18 (LIT/UBS4) And (kai) the (hē) invention (endōmēsis) of the (tou) wall (teichous) of her (autēs) [was] one of jasper (iaspis).  

 

And (kai) the (hē) city (polis) [was] cleansed (katharon) gold (chrusion), one like (homoion) [a] cleansed (katharō) rain drop (hualō).

 

Rev. 21:19 (LIT/UBS4) The (hoi) foundations (themelioi) of the (tou) wall (teichous) of the (tēs) city (poleōs) having been set in order (kekosmēmenoi), [with, AE] every (panti) highly valued (timiō) stone (lithō),

 

the (ho) foundation (themelios), the (ho) first (prōtos), [was] one of jasper (iaspis);

 

the (ho) second (deuteros) of sapphire (sapphiros);

 

the (ho) third (tritos) of chalcedony (chalkēdōn);

 

the (ho) fourth (tetartos) of emerald (smaragdos);

 

Rev. 21:20 (LIT/UBS4) the (ho) fifth (pemptos) of sardonyx (sardonux);

 

the (ho) sixth (hektos) of sardius (sardion);

 

the (ho) seventh (hebdomos) of chrysolite (chrusolithos);

 

the (ho) eighth (ogdoos) of beryl (bērullos);

 

the (ho) ninth (enatos) of topaz (topazion);

 

the (ho) tenth (dekatos) of chrysoprase (chrusoprasos);

 

the (ho) eleventh (hendekatos) of jacinth (huakinthos);

 

the (ho) twelfth (dōdekatos) of amethyst (amethustos).

Rev. 21:21 (LIT/UBS4) And (kai) the (hoi) twelve (dōdeka) gates (pulōnes) [were] twelve (dōdeka) pearls (margaritai).  

 

Up over (ana) each (hekastos) one (heis) of the (tōn) gates (pulōnōn) it was being (ēn) out (ek) of one (henos) pearl (margaritou)

 

And (kai) the (hē) wide place (plateia) of the (tēs) city (poleōs) [was] cleansed (katharon) gold (chrusion), as (hōs) [a] rain drop (haulos) shined through (diaugēs).

 

Rev. 21:22 (LIT/UBS4) And (kai) I absolutely did not see (ouk eidon) [a] holy place (naon) in (en) her (autē), because (gar) the (ho) Lord (kurios), the (ho) God (theos), the (ho) all powerful one (pantokratōr), is (estin) [the] holy place (naos) of her (autēs) and (kai) of the (to) little lamb (arnion)!

Rev. 21:23 (LIT/UBS4) And (kai) the (hē) city (polis) has (echei) absolutely no (ou) need (chreian) of the (tou) sun (hēliou), but absolutely neither (oude) of the (tēs) bright moon (selēnēs) in order that (hina) they may shine (phainōsin) [in, AE] her (autē);

 

because (gar) the (hē) glory (doxa) of the (tou) God (theou) illuminated (ephōtisen) her (autēn), and (kai) the (ho) lamp (luchnos) of her (autēs) [is] the (to) little lamb (arnion)!

 

Rev. 21:24 (LIT/UBS4) And (kai) the (ta) ethnic groups (ethnē) shall walk around (peripatēsousin) through (dia) the (tou) light (phōtos) of her (autes).  

 

And (kai) the (hoi) kings (basileis) of the (tēs) land (gēs) bring (pherousin) the (tēn) glory (doxan) of them (autōn) into (eis) her (autēn).

 

Rev. 21:25 (LIT/UBS4) And (kai) the (hoi) gates (pulōnes) of her (autēs), no (mē), absolutely not (ouk) may they be keyed-closed2808 (kleisthōsin) [by, AE] day (hēmeras), because (gar) night (nux) shall absolutely not (ouk) cause itself to be (estai) there (ekei)!

 

Rev. 21:26 (LIT/UBS4) And (kai) they shall bring (oisousin) the (tēn) glory (doxan) and (kai) honor (timēn) of the (tōn) ethnic groups (ethnōn) into (eis) her (autēn).

 

Rev. 21:27 (LIT/UBS4) And (kai) no (mē), absolutely not (ou) may enter in (eiselthē) into (eis) her (autēn) anything (pan) common (koinon), and (kai) the one (ho) doing (poiōn) [a] foul thing (bdelugma) and (kai) [a] falsehood (pseudos), if (ei) not (mē) the ones (hoi) having been written (gegrammenoi) in (en) the (tō) little scroll (bibliō) of the (tēs) life (zōēs) of the (tou) little lamb (arniou)!
