Chapter 11

Rev. 11:1 (LIT/UBS4) And (kai) [a] reed (kalamos) was given (edothē) to me (moi), one like (homoios) [a] rod (rhabdō), saying (legōn), "Be awake (egeire), and (kai) measure (metrēson) the (ton) holy place (naon) of the (tou) God (theou), and (kai) the (to) altar (thusiastērion), and (kai) the ones (tous) bowing to4352 (proskunountas) [the God, AE] in (en) it (autō).

 

(See Mic. 6:8-9, “hear ye the rod, and who has appointed it”)

 

Rev. 11:2 (LIT/UBS4) And (kai) the (tēn) courtyard (aulēn), the one (tēn) outside (exōthen) of the (tou) holy place (naou), throw [it, AE] out (ekbale) outside (exōthen) and (kai) do not measure (mē metrēsēs) her (autēn), because (hoti) she was given (edothē) to the (tois) ethnic groups (ethnesin).  

 

Rev. 11:3 (LIT/UBS4) And (kai) I shall give (dōsō) [prophecy, AE] to the (tois) two (dusin) witnesses (martusin) of me (mou), and (kai) they shall prophesy (prophēteusousin) [a] thousand (chilias) two hundreds (diakosias) sixty (hexēkonta) days (hēmeras), having thrown around themselves (peribeblēmenoi) sackcloth (sakkous).

 

And (kai) of the (tēn) city (polin), the (tēn) holy (hagian) [city, RE], they shall walk (patēsousin) [in her, AE] forty (tesserakonta) and (kai) two (duo) moons (mēnas).

 

Rev. 11:4 (LIT/UBS4) These (houtoi) [two witnesses, v3, RE] are (eisin) the (hai) two (duo) olive trees (elaiai), and (kai) the (hai) two (duo) lamp stands (luchniai), the (hai) [two witnesses, v3, RE] having stood (hestōtes) in sight (enōpion) of the (tou) lord (kuriou) of the (tēs) land (gēs).

 

Rev. 11:5 (LIT/UBS4) And (kai) if (ei) anyone (tis) desires (thelei) to do unrighteousness (adikēsai) to them (autous), fire (pur) is caused to go out (ekporeuetai) out (ek) of the (tou) mouth (stomatos) of them (autōn), and (kai) it devours (katesthiei) the (tous) hateful (echthrous) [peoples, ethnic groups, tongues and kings, v10:11, RE] of them (autōn).

 

And (kai) if (ei) anyone (tis) may desire (thelēsē) to do unrighteousness (adikēsai) to them (autous), thusly (houtōs) it is required (dei) for him (auton) to be killed (apoktanthēnai).

 

Rev. 11:6 (LIT/UBS4) These (houtoi) [two witnesses, v3, RE] hold (echousin) the (tēn) authority (exousian) to key-close2808 (kleisai) the (ton) heaven (ouranon);

 

in order that (hina) no (mē) rain (huetos) may rain (brechē) of the (tas) days (hēmeras) of the (tēs) prophecy (prophēteias) of them (autōn).  

 

And (kai) they hold (echousin) authority (exousian) over (epi) the (tōn) waters (hudatōn), to turn (strephein) them (auta) into (eis) blood (haima);

 

and (kai) to strike (pataxai) the (tēn) land (gēn) in (en) every (pasē) plague (plēgē), if perhaps (ean) as often as (hosakis) they may desire (thelēsōsin).

 

Rev. 11:7 (LIT/UBS4) And (kai) when perhaps (hotan) they may complete (telesōsin) the (tēn) witness (marturian) of them (autōn), the (to) wild animal (thērion), the (to) [wild animal, RE] stepping up (anabainon) out (ek) of the (tēs) abyss (abussou), it shall make (poiēsei) war (polemon) with (met’) them (autōn), and (kai) it shall conquer (nikēsei) them (autous), and (kai) it shall kill (apoktenei) them (autous).

 

Rev. 11:8 (LIT/UBS4) And (kai) the (to) fall (ptōma) of them (autōn) [shall be] upon (epi) the (tēs) wide place (plateias) of the (tēs) city (poleōs), the (tēs) great (megalēs) [city, RE] which (hētis) spiritually (pneumatikōs) is called aloud (kaleitai) Sodoms4670 (Sodoma) and (kai) Egypt (Aiguptos), where (hopou) the (ho) lord (kurios) also (kai) of them (autōn) was staked (estaurōthē).

 

(See Gen. 14:2-11, and Mat. 10:15 for Christ Jesus’ use of the two plurals, Sodoms and Gomorrahs, which may be dysphemisms for referencing the moral corruption of the whole five cities area in the valley of Siddim.  Mat. 10:15, 11:23-24; Luke 10:12, 17:29; Rom. 9:29; 2 Pet. 2:6; Jude 1:7; Rev. 11:8)

 

Rev. 11:9 (LIT/UBS4) And (kai) out (ek) of the (tōn) peoples (laōn), and (kai) tribes (phulōn), and (kai) tongues (glōssōn), and (kai) ethnic groups (ethnōn), they look at (blepousin) the (to) fall (ptōma) of them (autōn) for three (treis) days (hēmeras) and (kai) [a] half (hēmisu);

 

and (kai) they absolutely do not let go (ouk aphiousin) of the (ta) fallen (ptōmata) [two witnesses, RE] of them (autōn) to be put (tethēnai) into (eis) [a] memorial (mnēma)!

 

Rev. 11:10 (LIT/UBS4) And (kai) the (hoi) [peoples, tribes, tongues and ethnic groups,

v9, RE] homing-down (katoikountes) over (epi) the (tēs) land (gēs) rejoice (chairousin) over (ep’) them (autois), and (kai) they are well-pleased (euphrainontai).  

 

And (kai) they shall send (pempsousin) offerings (dōra) to one another (allēlois), because (hoti) these (houtoi) [two witnesses, v3, RE], the (hoi) two (duo) prophets (prophētai), tormented (ebasanisan) the (tous) [peoples, tribes, tongues and ethnic groups, v9, RE] homing-down (katoikountas) upon (epi) the (tēs) land (gēs).

 

Rev. 11:11 (LIT/UBS4) And (kai) with (meta) [the passing, AE] of the (tas) three (treis) days (hēmeras) and (kai) [a] half (hēmisu) [the] Spirit (pneuma) of life (zōēs) out (ek) of the (tou) God (theou) entered in (eisēlthen) into (eis) them (autois), and (kai) [the two witnesses, v3, RE] stood (estēsan) upon (epi) the (tous) feet (podas) of them (autōn).  

 

And (kai) great (megas) fear (phobos) fell (epepesen) upon (epi) the (tous) [peoples, tribes, tongues and ethnic groups, v9, RE] observing (theōrountas) them (autous).

 

Rev. 11:12 (LIT/UBS4) And (kai) they heard (ēkousan) [a] great (megalēs) voice (phōnēs) out (ek) of the (tou) heaven (ouranou), saying (legousēs) to them (autois), “Step up (anabate) here (hōde).”  

 

And (kai) [the two prophets, v10,RE] stepped up (anebēsan) into (eis) the (ton) heaven (ouranon) in (en) to the (tē) cloud (nephelē).  

 

And (kai) the (hoi) hateful (echthroi) [peoples, tribes, tongues and ethnic groups, v9, RE] of them (autōn) observed (etheōrēsan) them (autous).

 

Rev. 11:13 (LIT/UBS4) And (kai) in (en) the (tē) hour (hōra) of that (ekeinē) [a] great (megas) earthquake (seismos) caused itself to come to pass (egeneto), and (kai) the (to) tenth (dekaton) of the (tēs) city (poleōs) fell (epesen).  

 

And (kai) in (en) the (tō) earthquake (seismō) seven (hepta) thousands (chiliades) names (onomata) of mortals (anthrōpōn) were killed (apektanthēsan).

 

And (kai) the (hoi) remaining (loipoi) [mortals, RE] caused themselves to become (egenonto) [mortals, RE] in fear (emphoboi), and (kai) they gave (edōkan) glory (doxan) to the (tō) God (theō) of the (tou) heaven (ouranou).

 

Rev. 11:14 (LIT/UBS4) The (hē) woe (ouai), the (hē) second (deutera) [woe, RE], went away (apēlthen)

 

Behold (idou), the (hē) woe (ouai), the (hē) third (tritē) [woe, RE], causes itself to come (erchetai) quickly (tachu)!

 

The Seventh Trumpet Sounds

 

The Third Woe Comes

                                 

Rev. 11:15 (LIT/UBS4) And (kai) the (ho) seventh (hebdomos) messenger (angelos) trumpeted (esalpisen).  

 

And (kai) great (megalai) voices (phōnai) in (en) the (tō) heaven (ouranō) caused themselves to come to pass (egenonto), saying (legontes), “The (hē) kingdom932 (basileia) of the (tou) cosmos (kosmou) caused itself to become (egeneto) [the Kingdom, RE] of the (tou) Lord (kuriou) of us (hēmōn), and (kai) [the Kingdom, RE] of the (tou) Christ (Christou) of him (autou).  

 

And (kai) he shall be [a] king (basileusei) into (eis) the (tous) ages (aiōnas) of the (tōn) ages (aiōnōn).”

 

Rev. 11:16 (LIT/UBS4) And (kai) the (hoi) twenty (eikosi) four (tessares) elders (presbuteroi), the ones (hoi) in sight (enōpion) of the (tou) God (theou), ones being caused to sit down (kathēmenoi) upon (epi) the (tous) thrones (thronous) of them (autōn), they fell4098 (epesan) upon (epi) the (ta) faces (prosōpa) of them (autōn) and (kai) they bowed to4352 (prosekunēsan) the (tō) God (theō),

 

Rev. 11:17 (LIT/UBS4) saying (legontes), “We give thanks well (eucharistoumen) to you (soi) Lord (kurie), the (ho) God (theos), the one (ho) all powerful (pantokratōr);

 

the one (ho) being (ōn) [all powerful, RE] and (kai) the one (ho) [who, AE] was being (ēn) [all powerful, RE];

 

that (hoti) you have taken (eilēphas) the (tēn) inherently powered work (dunamin) of you (sou), the (tēn) great (megalēn) [inherently powered work, RE], and (kai) you are King (ebasileusas)!

 

Rev. 11:18 (LIT/UBS4) And (kai) the (ta) ethnic groups (ethnē) were made angry (ōrgisthēsan), and (kai) the (hē) anger (orgē) of you (sou) came (ēlthen).  

 

And (kai) the (ho) time (kairos) [came, RE] of the (tōn) dead ones (nekrōn) to be judged (krithēnai);

 

and (kai) [for you, RE] to give (dounai) the (ton) wage (misthon) [of you, RE] to the (tois) slaves (doulois) of you (sou), to the (tois) prophets (prophētais), and (kai) to the (tois) holy ones (hagiois), and (kai) to the ones (tois) causing themselves to fear (phoboumenois) the (ho) name (onoma) of you (sou), the (tous) small ones (mikrous) and (kai) the (tous) great ones (megalous);

 

and (kai) to thoroughly corrupt (diaphtheirai) the ones (tous) thoroughly corrupting (diaphtheirontas) the (tēn) land (gēn).”

 

Rev. 11:19 (LIT/UBS4) And (kai) the (ho) holy place (naos) of the (tou) God (theou) was opened up (ēnoigē), the (ho) [holy place, RE] in (en) the (tō) heaven (ouranō).  

 

And (kai) the (hē) ark (kibōtos) of the (tēs) covenant (diathēkēs) of him (autou) was gazed at (ōphthē) in (en) the (tō) holy place (naō) of him (autou).  

 

And (kai) lightnings (astrapai), and (kai) noises (phōnai), and (kai) thunderings (brontai), and (kai) [an] earthquake (seismos), and (kai) great (megalē) hail (chalaza) caused themselves to come to pass (egenonto).
